Auto tagging of blog entries

As prolific blog readers like myself will know, a constant issue is finding articles that are relevant to my current (fleeting) interests: WordPress helps to some extent with its ‘Tag Browser’ feature, but it’s still reliant on users applying category tags consistently. So it was great to come across a site listing papers from a recent conference (held as part of the 4th International Conference on Knowledge Capture at Whistler, Canada):

The paper OntoBlog: Linking Ontology and Blogs (Hideaki Takeda, Vilas Wuwongse, Aman Shakya) looks particularly interesting – investigating auto-tagging of individual entries to support meta-searches across blogs, resulting in improved information retrieval performance. Something for the reading pile.
